FISHER PRICE 123 CRAWL WITH ME PUPPY!
A TOY THAT ENCOURAGES BABY MOBILITY BY ENGAGING THEM HEAD ON!
Traditional baby’s crawling toys have a key design flaw: they face away from the baby. This “following play” leads to a lack of engagement and eventual disinterest by the child. The Crawl with me Puppy addresses these design flaw by back-pedaling away from the child while facing them, in a dog’s classic tug-o-war motion. Just pull on the sock and watch him go!
The Crawl with me Puppy was my invention, developed alongside Joel Tucker and Calvin Liedbrock at Big Monster Toys LLC, and subsequently licensed to Fisher Price. It utilizes two offset cam mechanisms separated by a swing arm to allow the puppy to walk forward and back, shaking his head in the process. Due to NDA, I am unable to publish the details of its development.
Our Model:
The original toy we created was called Tuggin’ Pup; a mischievous puppy that would play tug-o-war with kids using a variety of velcro toys. Using a toy-grade motor with a swing arm, CNC cut delrin gears, turned bearings and a 3D printed shell, our final prototype was extremely similar to the final product! (Any dog noises you hear in this video were also voiced by yours truly).
